Used to be CentOS but due to recent events... Debian & Ubuntu I guess.
I only use:
Most providers have Debian and Ubuntu templates, but some don't have the latest version. I'll expect the latest to be added within 30 days of release.
I prefer ISO to templates, so that I have precise control on what packages and configuration go into the box.
I tried netboot.xyz once on Virmach 384MB but it won't work because there's not enough RAM to download the whole disk. Thus, having a collection of ISO is still important.
My summer host has YABS pre-installed in the free trial instances. Now that's an awesome template.
+1 for preferring ISO over template. Also, Debian is the community-based distro, not like Ubuntu backed by a company, hence, vendor-locked.
