Idea : Site to collect OS ISOs

Is there such a thing today? I often find myself downloading alot of different isos from different sites, and some times i even need to register to get the iso i want, for example vmware. Is there any page who offers all in one place? Or is there any interest if i put something together?

  • Lot of companies are offering ISOs repos (like Online with https://virtualmedia.online.net/ accessible only for their subnets) but I'm not sure if that's legal.

Well, if you need to register to get the ISO for VMware, then I suspect that it would be illegal to distribute the ISO for VMware independently, so no.

    Unlikely.

  • Is there a specific ISO from VMWARE ? I though ISO is universal

For VMware Isos you need to be logged in to access the file for download. It is like the windoof process.

  • Wasnt really thinking about the legal aspect of it, and to be 100% honest, i dont really care, as long as i dont provide cracks, licenses and stuff like that from the same place

Love the GIF. Yeah many websites doing the similar thing. If you want to share ISOs people uploaded, make sure they dont have backdoors.

  • Pornhub. Oh wait, what are you really talking about?

If i was going to do this, i was only going to use clean unmodified files from the os makers themself.

Welcome to LET, you've come to the right place; everyone's favorite hobby here is to buy servers to idle *cough* seed Linux ISOs *cough*.

  • OP's definition of ISOs is different with me.

  • Don't tell me you are talking about legit isos otherwise Plex and jellyfin are really good for organising everything

Tried this, the issue is that people have to log in to get access, and i have to grant access every time a new user needs a file.

A disk icon is an actual ISO, a video icon is porn.

Uh, "DVD releases". Also, 3D, Bluray, Classics, pre-divx, director commentary, workout videos, etc.

Yea but I mean literally iso files, why would you do that?

Personally, I've done it for bluray cloning. Getting all the chapters and bonus content in tact.

Others do it (poor places) would fit to 700MB to fit on CD's.

Tl;dr when the ripping source was originally a disc.

+1 for lazy home movie DVD rips, although I'm thinking of repackaging my isos as mkv for ease of portability between newer devices. Still not sure how to best keep chapters in the move from iso to mkv, however
