Really cool that you were able to get RDP working on Linux. I'm assuming you guys implemented the protocol yourselves?

Are the program Windows / UI elements rendered locally on the client, like it's done with Windows <-> Windows RDP connection? If so, that's huge. Using a remote Linux VM with something that just streams a video buffer like, VNC, TeamViewer, etc, is never pleasant...

Apparently, they are using ogon for RDP

Yes, RDP is way faster than, for example, VNC. You can even watch videos (with sound) without much of a lag.

    Cool.
So far, good DE, smooth and fast. :)

    You create custom KDE?

We customize KDE, but we do not have any proprietary closed components running on your Desktop, everything is open and manageable if you choose to.

Just click the blue button, and download the rdp file.
Open it, and it will ask for password.

I'd be happy to provide some feedback, I use remote desktops in several locations and have done for over 10 years. I even have used services not entirely dissimilar to this one back in the days of the original iPad.

  • I don't trust service providers who uses privacy guard for their domains. It means their contact-us info on their website is fake as real address is hidden behind privacy guard.

Great service you are providing there, but it is easy to setup something similar with a simple raspberry pi. Just turn on VNC server and forward the port. Most KVMs also can do the same.

  • Hi, guys!

Thanks a lot for outstanding response, it was way better than we anticipated!

The beta program is now closed and we already got many suggestions, bug reports and other valuable feedbacks from testers.
While our improvement roadmap just got bigger, the service is already in production.

Few takeaways from the first month of operation:
    1. Never ask users to register to your support portal AND website with separate credentials.
    2. Have as many automated tests as possible. Things tend to break.
    3. Make labels, menus and forms simple. Don't confuse people.

    Best,
    Ivo from virsma.com.
