Medium performance Storage VPS, EU

Hi everyone,

I want to run Seafile and rsync backups on a VPS. It needs to be a VPS because I also want to run some other low-load services (i.e. personal homepage with little traffic) on it.

I have already tried the cheaper providers (those that hover around 5€/month for 1TB) and I want more performance than that, but I also don't need SSD-level performance.
I'd like to have around 50MB/s storage I/O reliably and 1TB of storage.
Can I get that for less than 20€/month?

So far I have had a look at the following:

  • Get CX11/CPX11 from Hetzner in Falkenstein and mount a BX30 storage box on it. But I've read reports of the connection to the storage box timing out and requiring a remount sometimes.
  • Get a VPS 200 G8 from Netcup and mount their Storage Space Tariff C on it.
  • Get a S 1000 G7 from Netcup
  • Get a Storage-1000 from UltraVPS
  • Or other providers in this price class?

Which of these gets me the most storage performance?

I have heared bad things about the following:

  • Contabo VPS 1400: Reports of slow HDD I/O due to overbooking
  • Cheap dedicated servers on Kimsufi: Reports of really slow network at times

Company needs to be in EU jurisdiction.
Server locations in Germany preferred, but nearby countries with good latency (France, Netherlands, etc.) are fine too.

    I've a customer of Liteserver. The server is based of Netherlands and performs consistently. Have a look at their plans. There's an offer of 25% that is running. @LiteServer

    For ultravps.eu it is already mounted by default to a directory. Just use their images. But for my experience with them we never had yet to do a remount on our 30 vps for more than 2 years already. @UltraVPS

    Using nvme and ryzen for OS and ui, hdd for the rest :). Thus your performance will be super snappy :)

    This gets you 1000GB of Raid10 storage. (It's one of my snappiest storage VPS. I have the 500GB base plan btw.)

    1 E3 core (sandvybridge/ivybridge) will execute Django code fast.
    2GB ram (this can run both Seafile CE or Pro editions)
    8TB of PREMIUM bandwidth mix.

    Fun story : I've been procrastinating on moving my seafile CE temporary placeholder vps from Hetzner to this. (lucky to have less than 12GB data stored now)
