Mac/iOS users can't listen to my LibreTime IceCast stream

Hi,

I installed Libretime + Icecast for my small group of friends. ( less than 20). All is good with browser using Laptop/Desktop or Android. But some are using Mac/iOS and it seems output is not compatible with them and they can't listen.

I tried different settings in libre time to publish with ogg or mp3 ending and stream type. But not playable on Mac/iOS unless they install something like VLC.

Anything I can try?

Yes I can confirm that you need an AAC stream on a Mac like @hzr said.

this always bothered me doing web dev - webm works on everything else, every combination of phone, desktop, laptop, browser.

    except safari and ios.

  • Are you linking to /mountpoint.m3u or just /mountpoint?

I can open Icecast MP3 streams perfectly on macOS/iOS. The trick is just to remove .m3u from the URL.
