We're looking for KVM storage providers in EU and US.

The project:

  • we have our own system for file copy/backup
  • 2X backups of millions of small files
  • mostly media files like photos and videos
  • the copy process PER VM is average of 30 files per second (100k per hour) this is not constant this is just the max test we set. It will be lower read/write per second. Barely 10mb/s read/write
  • the average file size is 2mb-20mb
  • our test is only max 300mb memory and max 0.03 cpu load

Here's our current list of providers

  • BuyVM
  • crowncloud
  • virmach
  • smarthost
  • letbox
  • ultravps.eu

VZ Type: KVM

Number of Cores: atleast one(1)
RAM: atleast 512MB
Disk Space: atleast 1TB
Disk Type: HDD
Storage Redundancy: RAID1/RAID10/RAID5/RAID6/CEPH/RAIDZ/ZFS

Bandwidth: atleast 1TB
Port Speed: atleast 100mbps (1gbps is preferred) - shared ofcourse

DDoS Protection: preferred but not required

Number of IPs: atleast one(1) IPv4 per VM

Location: US and EU

Budget: $10/mo/vm

Billing period: Monthly

Other Notes:
Good connectivy to Backblaze US-west and Amsterdam region is a big plus but not required.

Thanks

Not constant. We wont hammer the VM. It might barely do 10/mb/s write.
It will only be used for gallery media upload or attachments. However, we backup/copy those files to another VM, per upload. Then the final copy goes to backblaze.

We will use CDN to cache the images, so read will not much be a worry.

Do you really have machines with 1+ TB of storage? It seems you are just doing small SSD disk space virtual machines

I will check, but currently we are looking for block storage. I still need to test more if our system will work on local storage.

    Your requirements:

    VZ Type: KVM
    Number of Cores: atleast one(1)
    RAM: atleast 512MB
    Disk Space: atleast 1TB
    Disk Type: HDD
    Storage Redundancy: RAID1/RAID10/RAID5/RAID6/CEPH/RAIDZ/ZFS
    Bandwidth: atleast 1TB
Port Speed: atleast 100mbps (1gbps is preferred) - shared ofcourse
    Location: US and EU

    Budget: $10/mo/vm

So you are looking at 10$ per TB (in storage and transfer)

I would offer to you in dedicated form my MR 5 package:
    C2550 (4c,4t)
    8GB ECC RAM
    4x 3TB HDD (CMR)
    5TB Traffic on 100Mbit/s Port (1x IPV4)
    IPMI/HTML5 Console Avalible

So you are free to run your own zfs or whatever.
Assuming you sacrifice 1 disk for redundancy in a zfs setup you would have around 11.957 TB raw, with around 8.42 TB usable. (Works out to around 5.4 euro per TB usable).

Its currently listed myroot.pw for 45 euro. (53 usd).

But i am willing to give you a 5 Euro recurring discount (Final Price: 40 eur/mo - 47 USD)
(if you agree to a 1 year commitment/term, with a 1st month cancellation option ofc. (to try it out)).
