  • What's the CPU and load policy on those Black Friday i9 servers? Are they suitable for hosing a small game server? I'm currently using Vultr 2GB high frequency VPS and considering moving to a similar package.

If your CPU usage exceeds 25% per vCore for more than 1 hour in any 24 hour period you will likely get throttled.

What about those normal priced i9 packages? Are there any differences in terms of CPU policy?

Nope, that's the CPU policy across the board. The only exception is if you purchase dedicated cores, then you can hammer them as much as you like.

    Thanks @dahartigan
    Let me correct this slightly.
Your vCore allowance is 25% maximum at all times. Using 25% will not get you throttled.
You can burst up to 100% per vCore for up to 60 minutes per day. Bursting for more than this will likely see you throttled.

Does that mean I can use 100% of both vCores for 2 hours per day without throttling, if I purchase the £3.99/mo 2vCore package?

No, it means you can use up to 200% for 1 hour per day.

Throttled, not suspended, correct? And to much will the throttling be?

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

    • Up to 25% per vCore is fine 24x7 - 10%, 20%, 25% is good
    • Exceeding 25% per vCore for more than an hour per day is bad. - 26%, 30%, 50%, 70%, 90%, 100% all bad.
    • Using 100% of a vCore for 50 minutes per day is ok

I guess I have to actually try it out to see if it is suitable for my use case. Thanks for the explanation.
