This is a real killer deal, but the usual contract length applies.

Might as well leave it all in German

Root-Server 4000
SSDx4 G8SE

Intel® Xeon® Gold 6230
560 GB Enterprise SSD RAID10
32 GB DDR4 RAM (ECC)
6 dedizierte Kerne
KVM-Technologie
Snapshots (Copy-On-Write)
Remote-Konsole, DDoS-Schutz
99,9% Mindestverfügbarkeit uvm...
Sicheres und schnelles RAID10 (Hardware-RAID-Controller)
Konsole zur Fernwartung, Backupsystem uvm...

€20.99 a month, 12 month contract, 6 month payment

We are looking forward to see what php-friends.de will come up with.

The page for the special offers is always in German.

  • It looks like SSDx4 means they are the equivalent of their Root Server line with 4 times the SSD space. If that is the case we should be looking forward to a RS 8000 G8SE offer with 1040Gb of SSD space. That is a terabyte in layman's terms

They must have acquired a lot of SSD drives with their Xeon 6230 deployment, but it looks more like SSD drives have been declining in prices.

Are things getting to the point were SSD is more viable than SAS for high working storage needs

The SAS storage in their standard offers is 8 times the SSD storage.

This offer is storage focused, which is why it is called SSD 4x

  • That is an impressive offer from any provider not called Contabo. I gotta wonder what gets called enterprise SSD these days though. I even see some mentions of QLC enterprise drives: https://www.anandtech.com/show/14158/intel-announces-new-optane-and-qlc-enterprise-ssds

  • Hetzner dedis can add on Raid1 enterprise SSD (480GB) for 14 Eur/mo.
This is how I keep my ssd kvm urges in check.
