Which Cheap SSD VPS/Dedicated Server Can I Use As A Seedbox And Plex Server For 15Euro

Hello,
I'm looking for a VPS to use a seedbox for private torrents with a minimum specification of 500GB SSD, At least a dual-core CPU, 16GB RAM, 1Gbit internet (I can go down on that) and a large amount of bandwidth for uploading and downloading (unmetered would be preferred). I've found a decent deal of 15Euros a month with no setup fee on Contabo.com which has:

Intel® Xeon® E5-2620v3, E5-2630v4 or 4114 processor Eight Cores
30 GB RAM (guaranteed)
800 GB disk space (100% SSD)
Unlimited traffic and a 600 Mbit/s port

I have a budget of 15Euros give or take and would appreciate any suggestions or offerings.

No, you will get terminated for CPU abuse when you transcoding on that machine.
Ikoula 9.99 Dedi may an option, 2TB Storage with 1Gbit but the CPU is not that good for transcoding,

Its fine as long as you dont get a complaint. Even Hetzner doesnt terminate you on the first complaint they just ask to remove the content.

  • Seedbox and Plex on the same server? Talk about shitting where you eat...

Thanks for the suggestion, I won't be transcoding though, so no worries there.
I probably should have mentioned that...

I use private trackers and an OpenVPN with NordVPN setup so no complaints will reach me.

C'mon man no need to be vulgar, I should have said this but I'll be the only one streaming and I won't be transcoding so I think I actually have a chance at this.

Thanks for the support, but I think I'll be safe, as I said in another reply I use OpenVPN with NordVPN setup so no logs or letters.

  • So, are you a NordVPN or a Contabo shill?

  • I use Hetzner auction servers

    https://www.hetzner.com/sb?country=us

    Intel Core i7-2600

6TB HDD (it is soft Raid so need to un-RAID them via software config), 16 GB RAM and 1 Gbps unmetered connection

But Hetzner need to exclusively use private trackers, can’t use public trackers, else will get DMCA copyright notice quickly

    I pay like 23$/month

Second option is Kimsufi during flash sales

CPU is weak on KS3, I think like 400 passmark, but has 2 TB HDD and 4GB RAM. 100 Mbps unmetered connection. For like 7$/ month. It won’t be able to transcode but for direct play it works fine (I download H264 version of files and subtitles off and it works great for me. Sometimes subtitles take a lot of CPU power to burn onto video file and that takes too much CPU processing)

Also, OVH servers have great peering, they are great for long term seeding, Kimsufi comes under OVH. In other words, when people try to download file from trackers often it will try to download from my Kimsufi instead of my Hetzner server cause Kimsufi server will show lower ping, etc. (I don’t know exact technology or logic behind it) but for initial new torrent Kimsufi sucks cause Hetzner can easily max out whole 1 Gbps connection to upload to get 1.00 ratio + buffer. Hetzner is great for racing and making buffer, Kimsufi is great for long time seeding.

Just NordVPN for now, I just wanted to know the general thoughts on Contabo before I found out their overselling and will kick me out for reasonable use.

Why risk having your Plex server suspended for torrenting. Then you have no porn to watch and no way to get more. You'll go full-incel and murder a nun or something.

You’d think that, but this isn’t the first time he’s killed due to sexual frustration.

  • Did you consider seedhost? They have 10tb traffic limit but only count uploading for 15 euro.

  • If you use seedbox and plex on the same server, I guess you are not collect media for a long term, maybe?

Thank you so much for your insightful advice I didn't think of trying Kimsufi, Ill have a look at that as well as the Hetzner auctions, I have to say this forum is a lot like other nich subreddits, ask a question get a couple trolls and people with superiority complexes and a few golden replies like yours.

Nope, not really I normally keep my stuff on an encrypted unlimited G-Drive and use my small and fast seedbox to "race" which is just downloading popular torrents which I may or may not want to maintain my ratio and then later deleting them and downloading what I really want and direct playing it with plex or downloading with HTTP or FTP.

  • Your only choices with that budget are really Kimsufi or raising it slightly to go with hetzner. I wasn't a huge fan of contabo when it tried them a long time ago but I've read positive reviews about them recently so maybe they have improved service. I would go contabo or with hetzner. 100mbit line isn't the best for seedbox so I would rule out the Kimsufi.

Thanks for the suggestions, as I said in an earlier comment, I will have a look at hetzner details, but I'm interested in knowing what put you off contabo, they give me the overselling vibe, and that's what prompted me to post here looking for some insight as to how they are, and do you think using the VPS plan I mentioned in my first post would do the job for my needs?

  • I got one of thier vps plans 2-3 years ago and was getting slow i/o and slow speeds frequently. With plans like that they have to be over selling but I've read positive reviews recently so maybe they ironed out some of those issues and figured out a better ratio for the nodes.
