Managed server solution for software websites

Hi guys
I know this my first time to participate here but I always get some nice posts from LET on my mobile google feeds and I want to say this is really a great active community by you.

for my query .. currently, we are working on a big website to download Softwares and programs so I am looking for managed server/VPS with huge storage 4 TB and up unmetered 1Gb bandwidth will be a huge bonus with an affordable price up to 70/80 USD monthly .. also no restrict contract will be another bonus.

Thanks for your help

  • i read about this solution from scaleway Object Storage .. is there some way to combine this storage with powerful VPS to minimize costs .. I am noob so excuse me if my question does make no sense

  • For that budget and use case, I would suggest you to get a 2GB Slice(VM) from BuyVM with a 4TB Slab(Block storage) and setup minio on it. As it comes with Unmetered bandwidth and don't be jerk policy you will be fine.

  • This is.. all legal stuff?

  • @simonindia thanks for your awesome suggestion.. Their vm slices are managed?
    @hzr yes legal content

Nope but you could contact @MikePT he is reasonable as far I can tell never dealt with him directly.

so total cost would be 35 USD for Infra 15(in case you upgrade to bigger one soon) for server and 20 for slab(1TB is 5 USD so x4).

Use the remaining budget with Mike.

  • Where are most of your end users from?

What is the average size of the content
    Objects? 10-50MB or 100MB+?

If that's the case don't forget to put Cloudflare in front of it. As for >100MB file it will cache and serve it from the edge servers, which I last time checked were couple locations in that region.

Interesting. Cloudflare free or paid? I believe CF no longer use their India POPs for Free tier (SGP instead)
Middle East POPs may or may not suffer a similar treatment for free-tier, due to the impact on CF's bottom line.

Closest alternative POPs would be Italy/Frankfurt DCs I guess. (Hetzner can then be thrown into the ring as a FRA-equivalent )

I never checked recently but some of my clients that use free tier it seems the servers from chennai POP servers the content, Last I have checked maybe they changed the policy now.

But in any case for Middle east its better to get the download from near local POP like DXB or TLV than from LV,USA
