What is the purpose of fitting 8GB RAM in a server when 16GB is so cheap?
I can't imagine even buying a laptop with 8GB RAM. Firefox or Chrome will take up most of it and leave little for real work.
Is the effort of walking up to it switching it off and upgrading it to 16GB worth the interruption to customers who need upgrades?
Why not load them up with 16GB once and for all and be done with it?
You should try removing some of your bloatware then, browsers use ~300MB normally. 8GB is pretty standard for a laptop. The only conclusion from your post is that 'real work' you do must be pretty fascinating.
