Looking for a cheap VPS in HK. (Leaseweb reseller?)

Hi,

Requirements:

  • KVM (No OpenVZ).
  • 1vCore (Haswell/AVX2/AES/NI).
  • 1GB RAM.
  • 1GB SWAP.
  • 20GB to 30GB disk. (Preferably SSD/SSHD/NVMe).
  • Debian 9.x.
  • 100Mbit port.
  • 1TB trafic month. (Preferably only outbound counted).
  • No NAT.

MUST have decent latency to both Singapore and Thailand.
Presence at either SGIX/Equinix SG/HKIX is highly regarded.

Budget: Cheap?

Alternatively could settle with a Leaseweb (HK) reseller.

You can take a look at our KVM here: https://greencloudvps.com/hong-kong-ssd-kvm-vps.php
    HK-2 plan.
We can bump the bandwidth to 1TB for you with annual payment.

I'm sorry but no, no and NO.

I am currently a customer of GreencloudVPS on their yearly VN-1 plan for a VPS located in Vietnam, we are currently half way through the yearly deal and I can assure I will NOT be renewing my deal.

While the offer was really cheap (got it through these forums and through you), the VPS has never lived up to it's expectations, in terms of international bandwidth, I have tried for several months to get proper upstream (VPS -> Internet in the APAC region) bandwidth and it has never been properly provisioned.

After an exchange back and forth of roughly 10 tickets with the tech support department (if memory serves well), I finally gave up and left the server to idle (to die) in a corner and am patiently waiting for it to expire.

Tech support department never supplied a proper answer other than "Your server is fine, there is nothing wrong with it".

Based on that previous disastrous experience, I have absolutely no desire to do anything with GreencloudVPS in the future.

Mark my words though, was it cheap? Yes, it was, in fact it was dirt cheap. Were the tickets answered rapidly? They sure were, all of them in a timely manner. Was the case handled in a professional fashion? It sure was, that's not the issue here.

The only issue I have here is that the service is not to par and never lived up to my expectations and it simply never will.

That's the GreencloudVPS experience, right there, no outgoing bandwidth whatsoever.

  • Do let us know what you find, I am also looking for something acceptable there.

I’m sorry for your experience with our Vietnam VPS. The international bandwidth in Vietnam is the issue with all providers there, not only us. It’s $75/mbps and usually affected by APG & IA cables issues which happened nearly one time a month since 2018.
If you need high international bandwidth - then Vietnam VPS is not suitable for you. In Asia we offer Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan which will work fine for you.

One of the exchanged tickets mentioned an issue with cables earlier in the first quarter of 2019 if I recall correctly but even then before and after the outage the issue remained the same.

Luckily I am covered in Singapore by OVH and not interested in Japan, that leaves me with Hong Kong.

Is it possible at this point to get my VN-1 VPS instance shut down and "converted" in terms of remaining months to either a HK-1 or HK-2 plan so I can at least get to try it and get some use of my hard earned money?

    Thanks.

Please try to ping it from multiple locations before justifying the network: http://ping.pe/103.229.145.1
Only 36ms from DigitalOcean in Singapore.

I can somehow understand why is he raging about your network. You cant justify network by just pinging from one area, but normally, which including me, justify a network by just pinging from one location, which the target location matters me the most, if the latency is high, from the location that I matter the most, I justify it as "not up to my standard". Having a good route from digital ocean doesn't mean that you have a good route over 80% of other networks from the same area.

I am not exactly “raging” about the overall poor performance of their network infrastructure, that being said stating that I am deeply disappointed is a clear understatement.

As I’ve said above; when it comes to GreencloudVPS, I am just about done with them and will definitely not recommend them in the future.

I think it’s about the right time to forget and let go the topic.

I’m still on the lookout for some quality HK based VPS with a hoster matching the aforementioned specs, with preferably a PoP in SG for a latency sub 35ms between HK and SG and good routes between
    HK and TH as well.

I'm not sure about latency to Singapore and Thailand as I didn't check it but they are the cheapest I could find when I was searching for HK VPS, they have a free trial as well as unmetered bandwidth

I'm not sure about latency to Singapore and Thailand as I didn't check it but they are the cheapest I could find when I was searching for HK VPS, they have a free trial as well as unmetered bandwidth
    https://www.hkisl.net/cart.php?gid=14

This is slightly suspicious, that price in Hong Kong is too low. They also seem to have good peering to China via HGC, which raises eyebrows.

I didn't use them for a long time so I can't vouch for them, I found them on https://serverfound.com

Essentially looking for a Leaseweb reseller, someone with a robust dedicated server with several IPs who could fire up a virtual machine on it and allocate 1vCore, 1GB of RAM, 1GB of swap and anything between 20GB to 50GB of SSD on it and a dedicated IP address.

@BKKHK I have services in HK which should offer good connectivity to both Singapore and Thailand. Can you test here? http://hongkong-lg.ransomit.com.au/

    https://www.ransomit.com.au/hong-kong-china-vps/

Not a reseller from Leaseweb; I have my own equipment in HK1 Equinix...

The connectivity to Thailand is good but nothing exceptional, sub 60ms latency would have been "premium", HE.net transit is trash.

For an offer at 10$/month I'll pass, GigsGigsCloud is equally as good and much cheaper, offers as low as 5$ with 512MB of RAM includes 1TB of traffic, or the same price 10$ with 1GB of RAM it includes as high as 2TB of traffic.

I’m sorry for your experience with our Vietnam VPS. The international bandwidth in Vietnam is the issue with all providers there, not only us. It’s $75/mbps and usually affected by APG & IA cables issues which happened nearly one time a month since 2018.

One of the exchanged tickets mentioned an issue with cables earlier in the first quarter of 2019 if I recall correctly but even then before and after the outage the issue remained the same.

If you need high international bandwidth - then Vietnam VPS is not suitable for you. In Asia we offer Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan which will work fine for you.

    Thanks.

I think greencloudvps is also using gigsgigscloud hong kong server, I dont know why their ping is higher few days ago.

Can we drop the greencloudvps subject and get back on the topic please? Thanks.

You can try alibabacloud, their Hong Kong data center is awesome.

I totally would IF they offered VPS in that region, which they don't. Only dedicated servers.
