Backflips are illegal - you actually get deductions. How lame is that?
Of all the fake olympic sports (gymnastics, synchronized swimming, trampolines, diving, rhythmic dance, and the rest of those judged rather than competed for "sports"), figure skating is the dumbest I think. Well, maybe synchronized swimming...
I can understand about the deductions. They banned the move because otherwise everyone would have to do it to compete, resulting in a lot of injuries. Same reason they ban the full nelson in wrestling or the nut kick in MMA.
