Hetzner boot problem

erasereraser Member

I want to find the cause of a boot problem on my Gentoo box

How can I either log ALL the boot messages to some file

i changed rc_logger="NO" to rc_logger="YES" but rc.log is not created

I'm having a heck of a time diagnosing it because I can't seem to capture the error output. I've checked /var/log/messages and poked around the rest of /var/log but can't find anything of use.

How do I save any log for that matter during the failed boot process so that I can view it when I log in to diagnose via securemode?

thanks

You could try requesting a KVM Console so you can look at the server's video output while it boots and look for any errors. It's free for 3 hours, you can request it on the support section, just choose the correct server and select the option + the desired time and if you want it asap or at a specific time.
