Update to Account-Based Pricing
Late last week, we announced a new licensing and pricing structure for cPanel. This change was the result of several months of conversations and modeling to ensure we understood as many use cases for cPanel & WHM hosting as possible. In the days following our announcement, we have heard from many of our Partners, both online and on the phone, and the feedback has been clear. Our analysis of use cases was incomplete, and we underestimated the amount of support that some of our Community require to implement these licensing model changes. This was a miss on our part, and we are sorry for any concern we have caused as a result.

Your feedback has been taken to heart, and we are making adjustments. Outlined below are changes that we feel are positives for our Partners and direct Customers.

For Partners:
Implementation Support for Partners
We understand that account based pricing requires additional effort from our Partners. We want to help ease this transition by providing implementation support to our Partners. We will apply a one-time credit to cover part or all of your September 15th invoice up to $10,000 USD. For complete detail on our implementation support program, including all eligibility requirements, please contact your Account Manager.

WHMCS Automates Billing for New Licensing Model
If you are an existing WHMCS customer, we will only make the new cPanel & WHM hosting pricing model effective once the new WHMCS functionality is available to support the new pricing model. You will continue to be charged at the current pricing rate until 30 days after the release of this new functionality.

If you are not yet a WHMCS customer, and the billing functionality would help your business implement the new cPanel & WHM hosting pricing model, we are providing up to 12 months of no cost WHMCS licensing to our Partners. Please contact your Account Manager for details.

Introducing cPanel Plus Cloud (50 Account Package)
We will add a new 50 account “Plus” package available at Partner pricing for $25/month USD to our Cloud offering for customers who aren’t quite ready for a 100 account+ Premier license.

Fixed Price Packages
We will provide fixed cPanel Premier Packages starting with 100 account licenses, and we are making additional packages available in 50 account increments (i.e., 150, 200, 250, etc.) for customers where auto-scaling is not a good fit. To avoid a disadvantage in comparison to auto-scale pricing, we are offering these fixed price packages at a discount. Please be aware that no further discounts apply to the fixed price packages.

New Fixed Tier table, 100 - 250 accounts at 50 account increments, between $32 and $44.50.

  • Each additional 50 accounts above 250 adds $5.00/month in licensing cost. Pricing in USD.

We Only Get Paid When You Get Paid
After implementing the new pricing structure, if your customer fails to pay for their cPanel license, Partners will be able to request a service credit for up to 1 month via Manage2 on a license by license basis. We only get paid if you get paid. Please contact your Account Manager for details.

Account Managers Are Here to Help
We understand that you may have additional questions regarding the new licensing model for cPanel & WHM hosting, including questions about implementing this new licensing model for your business. Our Account Managers are here to help. Please reach out to your Account Manager with any questions or concerns. We want to work with you to find a solution.

We are publishing our PartnerNOC Licensing Guide (which is the same for all of our Partners) directly on our website to review at https://go.cpanel.net/partner-license-guide-website. Our PartnerNOC Licensing Guide will also be updated to reflect these changes over the next week.

For Direct Customers
Reinstating cPanel Solo Licenses
By the end of this week, we will reinstate cPanel Solo licenses (Cloud) in the cPanel Store. They will be available at $15/month on Cloud only. Additionally, we will no longer convert existing cPanel Solo licenses to the Admin package.

Extending Yearly Licenses
We are automatically extending all yearly licenses to help with the transition to the new licensing model. For licenses expiring between June 27th and July 20th, 2019, we will give additional time to select a new option in the ‘Managed Licenses” area in the cPanel Store. Please complete your selection no later than July 21, 2019.

Simplified Partner Application Process
The cPanel Store is in the process of being remodeled. We want to simplify the process of becoming a Partner. The cPanel Store release scheduled for August 2019 will provide a dramatic improvement on the process to become a Partner. Keep an eye out for this important change. Customers with a large number of accounts that meet Partner requirements will see a significant discount on our new pricing with Bulk accounts starting a 0.10 USD per account.

Reduced Partner Requirements for Developing Economies
In addition to a simplified partner application process, as described above, we are also lowering the financial requirements to become a Partner for companies in developing economies. We are reducing the minimum monthly spend from $500 to $200 for qualified companies located in developing economies*.

Additionally, the cPanel Store Licensing Guide (https://go.cpanel.net/store-license-guide), will be updated to reflect these changes over the next week. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to our customer support team: [email protected]

Thank You
For all our Customers and Partners who reached out to us to let us know their concerns with changes; thank you for providing your direct and constructive feedback. If you have any other feedback you’d like to share, feel free to come visit at our conference later this year, reach out to your Account Manager, our Customer Service Team or the Community Team on Slack, Discord, Reddit.

Sincerely,

J. Nick Koston

CEO

The programs and processes above may require additional documentation, and individual participation may be terminated.

You can link to the fixed price table, it's a .png:

    Big joke from cPanel.

The per user cost $ 5.00/250 = $ 0.20 - same as before except it is really more because with fixed pricing you will basically have to pay for users you don't have yet. The first user that overflows a x50 boundary requires you to pay $ 5.00 for the month to get the next tier.

  • @donli but the trade off is last week the pricing they proposed was 100 accounts for 45, now they are at 250 for 45. That's an extra 150 accounts to compensate for what you are suggesting.

No. Current update pricing for partner and it's same as last week. Direct customer price still same. They didn't update price for direct customer.

Saw it coming but less back-peddling than I expected. My money is on one more back-peddle including a cap on the price of a single licence,

LMAO they've really changed nothing. They're trying to trick people into thinking it's a good deal now.

  • well, if you have a dedicated with less than 50 accounts, stills better than 35 usd right?

    right? still being crap

  • WebProjectWebProject Host Rep, Veteran

Need to be so thick to get Solo license for one account, when in most cases you can get a whole solution at $15 per month not just cPanel license.

  • So basically what this shows is that they think ya all intellectually challenged, thus believing that the adding of a bit more confusion and a loose claim that this is a better deal would work.

Now I wait to see if they are right.....

They are betting that the increased revenue from this plan exceeds any revenue lost from losing customers as a result of this plan. They thew people a little bone and that's all you get.
