What have you done, invested the same amount the cpanel increase was into thousands of DA licenses?
Ant is on a crusade.
He's getting it from Clouvider, they just announced free DA licences for all customers of VPS/Dedi servers.
Awesome addition!!!!
It just makes sense, Francisco @ BuyVM did it awhile ago
I see what you did there
Prem!
Wow this is cool. I think some of Ant's stuff is not with Clouvider though? E.g. the Phoenix servers.
Does this include Low End Spirit? (Didn't think so, but had to ask
).
How does it work: do users install a DA public key in ~root/authorized_keys so that DA can get in to install stuff? Is there a client program also needing to be installed? I'm wondering if this can all be done with something like Ansible, which only requires a minimal Python interpreter at the remote end to do its stuff.
I've never used anything like this but maybe I've been missing out.
The license is registered under you as a unique "Client" and "License" ID you enter during the installation process
OK regarding the license, but how does the panel actually manage the VPS? Like how does it install a web server if you ask it to do that? Thanks.
Vz7 looking good
It.. runs on the VPS as root I guess? It's like installing cPanel on your VPS
@willie UK only it seems :-)
I've never used cPanel on a VPS so don't know how that works either. I figured cPanel and DA are both remote configuration contraptions, though they might also use target-side programs like Chef or similar tools (I use Ansible because it doesn't have one of those). I still don't understand what it is that these programs actually do, other than put a web gui in front of a Chef or Ansible like tool. Oh well, I probably shouldn't get wrapped up in this, since I'm not in the hosting business myself these days. The whole situation just annoys me though.

And US? U_U
We need this in USA too.
Will u help client to install DA?
He isn't paying for his licenses tho
Direct Admin provide simple installation instructions if you get stuck and take the basic support option during checkout I will help.
I love free idle stuff, so just submitted a ticket to get one ;-)
That just shows the user interface, not how to install it on a VPS. I've used the UI from shared hosting and mxroute. What I want to know is what the VPS installation process (if any) looks like for the VPS user, and for the host. Thanks though
.
This is an intriging development...

Great step forward! Good luck
After all this time, @AnthonySmith finally hooked me. Couldn't resist, especially with included DA. With such a loss-leader (on my VM) I hope it all works out for you. :-|
P.S. There's no plural of stuff (I know, 'cos I have plenty enough of it!) :-p
Be sure to join this LET thread and give feedback on DA:

I did make one comment regarding Apache Status, that only appears in cPanel/WHM but that appears to have been missed/deemed insignificant.
Are the Da license only for uk vps or also for the NL and US vps?

Yep just UK.
