I can see the point of 5.5 or 5.6.

    But 5.2? Nope.

Even I stopped using Windows XP long ago.

1.5% of PCs running Windows are still apparently using XP.

And don’t say its because old applications.

    Because old applications.

There are thousands of companies still using Windows XP because there's some software they need to run and they either can't or won't pay for an update.

May their beards grow inward :rage:

    Because people are lazy.

Sadly even Windows XP is still used widely in governments for example.

Governments pay Microsoft for extended support for xp though. Using an end of life unsupported piece of software like PHP 5.2 is asking to get owned sooner or later.

There is also the difference of Internet access.
I’m sure that the Windows XP machines are stripped down to the bone, without Internet access.

We don't offer shared hosting and if we did we wouldn't provide PHP 5.2. The only eol software currently provided by us are Ubuntu 14.04 templates, and that's because people can buy extended support from Canonical.. not that anyone choosing it probably does

You'd be surprised. A lot of NHS computers have internet access and xp. I've also heard some of the MRI machines can only be driven from XP.

This is one of the reasons why the NHS was vulnerable to the WannaCry ransomware attack in 2017.

    Allow me to re-phrase.

Nobody that purposefully uses an Opera VPN ip and a throwaway email address is this stupid.

Not only MRI machines use XP, I’ve seen my fair share of medical equipment running on XP.
All of which are locked down to ensure that the software works as intended.

No Internet, only allow communication with other hardware/servers that it needs to be connected to.
