Installing manually shadowsocks + libsodium takes almost twice as long than using the script. While nice, ss installation is really easy.

Why not simply use a docker container?

I mean, the repo is still up and the commit history is there.

All you have to do is to browse the repository based on an older commit.

    Cheap OVZ servers.

Anyway, you really don't need a script for setting up SS server. I did one not too long ago and got it installed and configured in 10 minutes.

Those still exist? I thought LET would laugh anything out of the room that isn't 1vcore, 1gb ram, 10 gb ssd kvm for less than $23 per year.

I never tried docker. Besides, I’m quite comfortable with building things from source.

Ummm the repo is still actually up. The master branch is still up. It's just now defaulted to a "rm" branch.

That said, probably not up anytime longer, going to grab a copy while I can.

Just tossed it into Google Translate to understand (ish) it, seems like the repo isn't going anytime soon, just that it's no longer promoted as the author gave up on the upkeep of the blog.

This little bit I read from that url via Google Translate might help others. Original text at the bottom of the article.

Just the tutorials and articles are deleted. The master branch is still kept on Github, which does not actually affect the script usage, but will not be updated in the future.

Well, anything of use on github will get forked tons of times, there's very little chance of it going away even if Teddy removed his repo.

Unfortunatelly there's an old SS version in the Ubuntu repo and Teddy's script let to install the latest SS version.
