Looking for a VPS with dedicated cores budget $20/m
Hello Lowendtalk members,
I'm looking for a VPS with dedicated cores as a game server. I'm currently using a cheap Intel I3-540 dedicated server from WholeSaleInternet. Is it possible to get a VPS with better single thread performance within my budget?
I know Hosthatch offers VPS with dedicated "Cores". They are using Intel Xeon E5-2690 v2 with single thread rating at 1826 according to www.cpubenchmark.net, while Intel I3-540 gets a rating at 1224. Is it safe to assume if I switch to HostHatch my game server will perform better?
Budget: ~$20/m
Location: United States
CPU: 1 dedicated
Memory: >2GB
Storage: >20GB (SSD/HDD)
Bandwidth: does not matter
Purpose: hosting a game server
Any suggestions are appreciated.

For $20/month look for another low end dedicated box (check: https://en.metadedi.net ). Also people what game(s) you intend to run (and how many users) for best results.
The KS-9 is in stock right now with the Intel i3-2130, which has better single-threaded performance (3.4 Ghz) and is slightly cheaper.
Although for $20 it won't be a significant increase.

+1 for $15/m slice. 3.5GHz E3 cores (1241v3 or 1270v3). Should work quite well for a game server.
Look at my KVM Game VPS. They aren't dedicated cores but it's unlikely it would be a problem, and they are mostly i7-7700K. https://extravm.com/kvmvps.html
