Is OpenVZ 7 like KVM or Xen?

I just learned about the existence of OpenVZ 7 from seeing it mentioned here.

It seems to be more like KVM than previous versions.

Are the VMs isolated from each other?

Does it require the admin to set up things like tun and tap that KVM handles natively?

Is the admin able to see everything on it like with earlier versions of OpenVZ?

It sounds like a lot of questions but I just want to know if is different from KVM and Xen for instance, and why a provider or end user would go with it rather than the former.

  • It's still not KVM. Management isn't all that different.

Pay the $1/mo difference if you're afraid that overworked admins give a shit what you're doing (if not abusing resources).

Welcome to town. Are you lazy and/or an idiot?

Why is it so difficult to use a search engine and type in "openvz 7 vs kvm"?

And no, camels are not like elephants.

    I blame school policies.

Nowadays, teachers encourage kids to "Ask if you don't know".

In my days, teachers told me to "research on subjects" before making a fool of myself.

And, yes, camels are elephants, you flat-Earthener.

Why do you hate this forum so much that you don't want people to use it for it's intended purpose? I know you're really new here, but you should really read the rules before posting.

it means that KVM is his wife. Xen and OpenVZ are his mistresses.

KVM, versatile but boring. Xen, old but pretty reliable, although set in her ways. OpenVZ - cheap and to the point.
