Hi!
Long time lurker, first-time poster, so, sorry if I'm doing something wrong I'll correct it.
Basically, I'm looking for a VPS provider who has servers there for a lightweight desktop VPS (Ubuntu, Arch, etc). Not too heavy, maybe 1GB RAM and 30 GB HDD or something. I need it for personal matters (no, no surveys or that dirty job, I have my own already lol).
Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Good luck with your budget.
Whoa really? how much do you think it'll be? Maybe a VPN would be better then?
Try HostUS, they have VPS at Charlotte and Washington.
Ho-ost have VPS at Charlotte (Not sure if they still provide it now)Ho-ost only provide Shared and Reseller Hosting now
@darkguy2008 Why Virginia? If North Carolina will work, QuickPacket has a number of customers that can offer VPS based in Charlotte. HostUS is a good option.
Well basically I travel a lot, and I created my bank account there. When I'm overseas then it's an annoyance because flags begin to raise as I'm accessing my account and doing transfers from the outside so my idea was to set up a VPN, virtual desktop or something there so I could do my operations without the inconvenience of calling everytime to set up a travel notification.
ExtraVM offers vps in Vint Hill VA (OVH) - it's a nice fast box but might be tight on disk space for the low-priced options. (I see 26 GB ssd / 2 GB ram for $12/month.)
might find deal with extra ram if this offer is still available:

uptime - good find! It's okay, I can afford that and it'll come in handy. I'll check that option, thanks for your suggestion! - although they seem to be unavailable for now, that's too bad
Great, I suggested HostUS but apparently I was being ignored. Don't take things for granted.
@FAT32 Oh no, I didn't meant to, sorry! I overlooked it - will look at those too, thanks!
Sorry if I am a bit sensitive, you know, Monday Blues.
Their 1GB OVZ Plan is only $4.95/m: https://hostus.us/openvz-vps.html
Whereas their 1GB KVM Plan is only $7.95/m: https://hostus.us/kvm-vps.html
But since you are running important stuff (banking), KVM might provides you a better security. You can also look at their special offer page if you can find anything interesting: https://hostus.us/special-offers.html
EDIT: Use VPS15OFF for an additional 15% OFF
You may want to try Reliable Hosting Services, or a VPS provider who uses their datacenter. They're a low-cost provider based in West Virginia, and their uplink is provided via Ashburn, VA. So while their IP space may not technically show up as Virginia, it's definitely in the neighborhood.
Amazon Lightsail
Virgin media VPS : https://virginhost.com is the best I use them right now and all I can say is that they are the best. Their vps start with 2$ and they offer vps in Virginia also.
Leaseweb has VPSes starting at $5 in Manassas, VA.
Lightsail as already mentioned?
Perhaps @freerangecloud can get you something in VA
Thanks for the tag. Unfortunately we're currently out of stock in our Ashburn location, but will hopefully be deploying some additional hypervisors in the coming weeks.
