Video Hosting/Delivery Suggestions?

Anyone have any recommendations for video hosting for a church? They don't want to use Youtube. They just want to provide video sermons that will play on most devices. I would say the average sermon is about 45 minutes and they have about 10 sermons so far. Player doesn't have to be branded but they would like to deliver videos on their own site.

Their site is wordpress. Thanks for any help.

We tried Bunny. Because of the size of the files. Bunny does not encode so they files still didn't play on a number of mobile devices. It's great for images but for 45 minutes sermons, they just need to pay more money than $12.00 a year.

Pushrcdn.com offers encoding at an additional fee, with encoders starting at $49/month.

Didn't you ask the same question before? You even had long lengthy discussions about it.

We did and as noted three posts up.. that we the recommendation was to use Bunny and as noted in the post Bunny didn't work for the client so therefore we are back asking for another option. Do you have one?

    Your issue is your client.

So you have no suggestions is what you are saying?

A quick digging reveals that your discussion began last Nov.

I shall repeat again: The issue is your so-called client. She may be set out to haunt you if she exists.

On the topic, I don't have any suggestion within your budget.

There was no budget set on this discussion.... I simply said they (it's a he) paid $12 for bunny which was good for the year so now they need another option since it doesn't include encoding and stutters on Mobile Devices.

The options set for so far THIS YEAR on THIS POST are Pushrcdn.com and Vimeo which looks to be a solid option that I am going to recommend for $100 a year.

Do you have any other REASONABLE prices options for hosting, and delivering sermon content? Please include a link or so. Thank you....

Why not host on PHub then? Surely there's noone whose device isn't compatible with them *jk

  • As already suggested - what is the problem with storing it on pre-existing solution?

You could even use a Google photos account, if you so choose. You could easily I save all of your content as an mp4 or webm and then allow public access to it for reading.

if your concern is compatibility, you can still run a pretty good amount of people off of a smaller dedicated machine that transcodes. I can't see people sitting and watching sermons 24/7 for more than a few clients.

I think the main issue is mobile traffic for this client. The videos play fine for me on computers, but even when I pull up the longer videos they took a while to load. I will take all of this information and probably recommend they go with Vimeo since it is only $12 a month, it's not youtube and also a proven delivery method.

That will be an issue. if they've got a white label / private service that's probably going to be your easiest and least amount of issues for maintenance. Good luck with your service!

  • Why don't you just encode the files yourself? Or well, just encode them in a reasonable quality that's good both for mobile and desktop. Try tinkering with the tuning options of h264

Exactly. Encode them, and then have 8 or whatever versions of each same file available on the CDN. Player will pick the compatible one. That's how every streaming service ever works.

  • Have you checked ezwebplayer ?

Or he could even use some streaming server like Wowza that can encode on the fly and perhaps even deliver adaptive streaming

Try https://streamango.com/ . It's free and compatible with most devices :)
    They also convert files.

    Youtube.

    EDIT2:
    or pornhub.
    Choose wisely.

This. Do a little script to encode the video, have your player (lots of good free js players) able to select the quality of the stream and you're good to go. Host on bunny if you want a CDN but any decent server not to far from where the biggest audience will be is probably more than enough.

You were asking same thing over and over again.

Try Cloudflare Stream (Contact their sales directly and state your requirement, they wouldn't charge you premium for non-profit organisation )
    https://cloudflare.com/products/cloudflare-stream/

Try Azure Media Service, apply non-profit grant for your church. You should have sufficient credits to spend for 1-3 years.

    My thoughts exactly.

  • BunnyCDN + fluidplayer

Fluidplayer allows you to choose quality, you dont need to do all qualities just 480p and 720p/1080p

  • How many views per month for all videos??
You can use Google Drive, Blogspot, OneDrive, Amazon Drive
    all combine with JwPlayer8.
