OVH Network | SINGAPORE => INDIAN Sub Continent (ISC) | Info and improvement requests
OVH has made considerable network improvements over the last months on its network to reduce the latency from the Singapore Datacenter to customers located in Asia-Pacific especially in Southeast Asia (and will continue to do so)
We are also committed to improve our network to the INDIAN Sub continent by adding providers, capacity and new rules to reduce the latency from Singapore (our closest datacenter to this region: with latency beeing as low as ~ 40ms from SINGAPORE => INDIA)

Singapore is a great hub, connects East Asia, India and Oceania...
Bandwidth from Dubai to Singapore goes through RBX and London. Is it ok?
Regards.
But, but.. where the offer at?
so you'll create one thread for each DC?
on the other hand there's no stock
As far as i know
Pakistan is also in Indian Sub cont . Here is Routes from PTCL . i guess largest dsl provider in country .
and
Why not inside India dc ? You are missing 500 millions people . It is about time govt will rule hosting customers data inside India , so big business opportunity for enterprise in near future , not only first mover have always advantage
Airtel 4G (Kerala,India)
Can't even buy it. What's the point.
True that!
Same thought!
not only big hosts like ovh, do or amazon can have best deals with bandwidth providers and ultimately cheaper bandwidth for all . India has changed a lot , it is not what it used to be . also not much content restriction like china .
hosting outside India has many issues as various parts within the country cannot be served or one isp or another have bad peering .
Yup, Direct Bharti Airtel, Tata Communications & Jio Uplinks along with Direct Peering to Extreme IX, NIXI & National Internet Backbone India will be enough to provide great connectivity across India
Vodafone/Idea Uplink will also improve connectivity but I don't think its a necessity
Hello all,
New improvement done this morning to Sri-Lanka: LK Dialog Axiata PLC (AS18001 125.214.186.1) http://sgp.smokeping.ovh.net/smokeping?target=APAC.AS18001
@hammad, thanks for sharing, we will investigate.
@sibaper @yokowasis @icry:
We have re-stocked on Dedicated servers in Singapore (lot of configurations are available in 120 seconds):
https://www.ovh.com/asia/dedicated-servers/all_servers.xml and more are coming soon.
Regarding virtual cloud servers we are opening soon a Public cloud region in Singapore (from cheap sandboxes to powerful cloud instances):

@hostdare, thanks for sharing your thoughts, we definitely keep an eye on such topics.
@vimalware, nice for a 4G connection (-:

Meanwhile the stock for APAC VPS especially SG still out of stock.
According to my source at OVH, the newly targeted date is 2019/01/15. Take it with a grain of salt though.
Regards.
And it won't be 2.00 EUR anymore even when comes back in stock as Cloud, the cheapest Cloud Sandbox plan is 2.99 EUR.
First plan should be at 3.50$ but haven’t enquired if it was USD or SGD.
Stay tuned.
That's USD: https://www.ovh.com/world/public-cloud/instances/prices/

Oh, looks like they’ve updated their pricing on their website as well which I wasn’t aware of, thus confirming my source.
15/01/2019.
Thanks for the heads up @rm_.
Hello @rm_ , @tcp6
The cheapest server in Singapore via our Public cloud solution would be indeed 3.50 USD (by the month) (versus 2.50 USD for the old APAC SSD VPS offer), however: you will get twice the RAM and several options which were lacking on these APAC VPS. such as additional storage, snaphots..etc.. (https://www.ovh.com/asia/public-cloud/instances/features/)
I will inform the LET community once the OVH Public cloud solution is available in both Singapore and Sydney.
@OVH_APAC A friend who works at OVH hushed to me the current slated target date is the 15 January 2019.
Are you able to confirm?
The ETA was late November with still no news. Can you provide us with a more precise ETA?
My insider source says tentative date is mid January.
Wait and see.
So pretty much mid next year haha.
Hello @dosai ,
Nice latency, we have added Hathway AS17488 in the smokeping tool for monitoring: http://sgp.smokeping.ovh.net/smokeping?target=APAC.AS17488
Hello @Gravely @tcp6 ,
We are doing our best to have the Singapore and Sydney Public Cloud region available early 2019 and I will advise you once I get a more precise ETA.
So you're saying for US$3.50 I will get 2GB RAM in SINGAPORE? Nice!
Hello all,
We are glad to inform we have connected a new provider in Singapore in order to improve the routing in the APAC region, especially for India. (with Vodafone)
Latency is now down to 37ms.
