@vapornode An option to add a single CSS file would be a starting point to designers.
@vapornode I have series of questions for this panel if you don't mind.
How does this panel handle network configuration? Do they all need to have cloud-init installed within the template?
How does it measure bandwidth?
Does this work with ZFS or any other custom storage handle as long as Proxmox supports it?
How does it handle resetting passwords in a VM?
As mentioned, the servers cannot be in a cluster, why is that?
How are migrations performed?
@techhelper1
Network configuration for LXC is static and ProxCP pulls an IP from a pool or has it manually assigned. For KVM ISOs, same deal but with DHCP. Currently all KVM templates require cloud-init so a static IP setting is possible. ProxCP maintains a DHCP table that is used to generate a valid DHCP config file periodically.
Proxmox already has bandwidth counters that we use. Proxmox resets the counters whenever a VM is rebooted/shutdown but we can still track totals with math.
This works with any file system Proxmox supports.
LXC password resets require logging in to the host node and making the change. KVM resets are through cloud-init if a template and disabled if from an ISO. ProxCP does not store VM passwords itself.
I can't think of anything off the top of my head that wouldn't allow clusters to work but they are also untested which is why they shouldn't be used yet.
Migrations between proxmox nodes I assume? Just make the change in Proxmox (shutdown, backup, delete, restore) then change the proxmox node of the VM in ProxCP.
@vapornode
I find the features and the pricing scheme absolutely interesting, expecially the "full" license with unlimited nodes. I hope it will stay this way as any other control panel (eg. virtualizor) becomes very expensive when you start having more than 10 nodes.
Forgot to ask, do you plan to make it multi-language? I can help with the italian translation, if you wish.
@Shazan It already supports multiple languages, it just needs translators
@vapornode I would cluster in groups of 32 for the high availability, shared storage, migration, and live migration capabilities.
32 would actually be a perfect number of 1U compute servers, 2x 4U storage nodes, and 2x fiber switches (1 for public traffic, and another for management, IPMI, migration, and internal VM traffic).
You could also reduce the compute nodes a Supermicro Microblade chassis, which can hold up to 28 blades, and includes a built in switch. Just need shared storage. Although it really depends on how hot you really want to run a cabinet,
Automatically resizes the disk in kvm?
Seems like a very interesting product
I like worms.
@picateclas Yes, service plans that have a storage amount larger than the KVM template will automatically resize the disk to the correct size.
And if the customer decides to expand the disk, is it automatically increased once the KVM is running?
Thank you
I'm a customer of Vapornode and I really do like their panel. It's simple/fast to use and I've never had any errors or anything while using it.
No, the nature of KVM requires it to be rebooted after a disk size change. There is no user-facing function to resize a disk after creation.
For example, if someone upgrades their service to have more storage, an admin would just login to Proxmox and resize the disk from there. There is no reason for us to implement this into ProxCP.
Taking advantage that you answer so quickly, and that you are a respected provider, I see that the panel is compatible with LXC.
What about the experience with LXC? What about the rumors/theory that lxc it is unsafe?
PS: I'm going to start testing proxcp today.
@picateclas We've not had any issues specifically related to LXC. It is newer and slightly different than OpenVZ but it works well. Proxmox/ProxCP has support for privileged or unprivileged containers.
I think I already asked this tho. Any plans for custom isos loading via http/ftp?
Another question. Do you have any protection in place for IP spoofing etc?
@MikePT Custom ISOs are being looked at. The current issue in-progress is front-end templates. Regarding IP spoofing, the Proxmox firewall has a setting for that. ProxCP supports all features of the Proxmox firewall so...yes.
Sounds good. Ordered. Looking forward to give it a try.
The ProxCP beta will be wrapping up at the end of the month. Those that earned a free license upon release will be notified soon. Otherwise, all beta keys will be expired at that time. Your ProxCP beta installation may still work up to 7 days past the expiration date.
On top of bug fixes, here are the miniature features we added during the beta:
There will be no further feature updates during the beta. Upon full release of ProxCP in February, this is what you will get.
In the meantime, we will be working on these features post-launch:
There are plans integration with BillManager (ISPSystem) ?
No, not at this time.
Ouch and I still haven't installed the panel. Are you still taking feedback? Will try in the weekend if yes.
For "advanced" easy customization, you can allow LESS or SASS realtime compilation.
Awesome.
Always.
This is v1, let's keep it simple
I have been testing it with two of our proxmox nodes and the support has been A1. From helping setup and fixing some error codes. Layout is nice and easy to use. I did submit a few little bits here and there that can maybe help make it a little more easier on setting up the vps. So hope them come with updates. But, the best I then seen for proxmox.
So, what do most of you guys think of the $7/month/node pricing model?
Go or No?
Edit:
Just some quick suggestions. Why don't you integrate a store, automation, billing and support ticket system. I'll pay easy $10-15/month/node for that and dump WHMCS and Solus/Virtualizor or whatever it is.
Just to be clear, it isn't that price across the board. Pricing per node gets cheaper as your needs grow.
That's all a bit out of scope at this point but who knows...
Yes, you can. Set a bigger goal. I would love to see you guys grow. Getting sick and tired of the monopoly. This is a good start, I'll check it out pretty soon.
ProxCP version 1 is now available! There is a 14-day free trial for those that did not get to participate in the beta.
Custom ISO pretty please :-)
