I dont have a problem with systemd. Most of it I actually like.
True, some aspects are nice but I don't like parts were they try to reinvent the wheel, e.g. netplan
netplan is canonicals stuff, isnt it?
I only use debian, so I dont have netplan. No idea how it is.
Just googled it and you're right, so my rant should go in that direction ;P
Systemd is great for workstations, but sucks for servers. That's my opinion about it. That's why I run FreeBSD on servers and Linux on workstations. Also, never heard of netplan. Must be a Canonical thing.
netplan is nice, it however just templates the config that will be used either by systemd-networkd or network manager. It integrates nice with cloud-init.
If you don't like it, you can just disable it.
Fuck shitstemd and all the other poetteringcrap like pulseaudio, avahi.
Mainstream Linux is trash now, sadly.
Luckily there is still Slackware, Gentoo (OpenRC)/Funtoo, LFS, BSD and a few others where you can still maintain control over your machine.
