How strong is Blogger server ?

I am thinking about getting hit 1000 hit over 5 seconds.

Can Blogger handle that ? Without crippled my website.

  • I doubt Google servers have the capacity to handle 1000 requests over 5 seconds.

  • They will report you when things flgoes unusual.

Either they will control it or if the request is artificial then they will delete the blog.

    Don't do artificial request.

  • How optimized is your website?

  • This isn't a real discussion, is it?

Even if they can handle, they won't allow you use their capacity in this way.

totally. sites like kissmanga.com use blogger to save on massive bandwidth and illegal content.

Is that an official Google policy? Do you have any links to the policy?

No. But I had similar experience.

Also they hate copyrighted material in blogger .. any sort of copyright

  • His site was on blogger. Check the Video. 41k+ real time

    Can you elaborate?

Know any non-shady provider who doesn't? Or do you think copyright has no meaning?

  • This is a very real discussion.

It's a legit request with legit traffic. I intend to use google forms on a blogger platform as a quiz for the students.

I've tried with Kimsufi KS3C in the past. It failed miserably.

Have you tried reaching out to the Blogger team with your use case? They should be happy to help you out with your situation.

I don't know. Google support is very famous for their non existency.

Even if you asked them to hit Pornhub all at the same time they would not be all synced up like that. Unless there are tens of thousands of them. At that point having a single rented server would be the least of your organizational and infrastructure problems.

I've tried with Kimsufi KS3C in the past. It failed miserably.

KS3C was a rather powerful desktop machine not a long time ago. It definitely has enough horsepower to handle 1000 form submissions. Much less powerful machines served the Web decades ago.

If i5-2400 or similar CPU is choking on it, optimize your site! If 100mbit network is congested then get a 1gbit network not more powerful pc.

What? You need to optimize your blog. To much wasting resources only for 1000 req/5s..

  • Well the real question might be is how would we know this?

    Do we own blogger?

Do they publish the server data?

If they do why can't you figure it out?

You have been around long enough you should be able to figure this out, or am I giving you too much credit?

What is your purpose? Please explain.

As I said I had something in past that forced me to face the situation.

You can not burn any blogger blog with artificial traffic .. even they hate fake or real copyright... Yet the allow porn with adult confirmation to visitor..

When they detects that 1000req/5 sec they will surely check the request and if fake -

    Delete is what expected...

Why not buy vps? LET has great providers I believe and supportive too.

Perhaps some of you guys have similar experience. Some of the member obviously have a lot of experience than the others. That's why I am asking. Just because you don't know , doesn't necessarily mean all of the LET MEMBER doesn't know.

If you look the reply above yours, you can see that there are some discussion. Some of them even has post video proof.

I believe none of the people replied here own Blogger. Yet, some of them can answer ,or at least give me an insight, and what to expect.

  • Whoa whoa slow your roll. Unless someone has done EXACTLY what you are trying to accomplish their advice may be flawed. The only people that know the correct answer is Blogger.

1000 requests every 5 seconds if a crapload of traffic. My suggestion is to grab a cheap dedi and do this yourself. This way you do not violate any rules of the host platform. Places like Blogger will sometimes have rules agai nst the stupidest things and will not hesitate to burn you if you violate them.

Sure Blogger can probably handle it, but is it a violation of any rules to use it in this way? I am not going to pour over the docs to find out, but if you decide to go ahead I suggest you do it.

  • @Tumbleguy1 said: What is your purpose? Please explain.

Purpose for what? You mentioned having faced a similar situation and I merely asked to elaborate.

@Tumbleguy1 said: As I said I had something in past that forced me to face the situation.

That does not add anything to what you have already mentioned before. Show us what exactly happened or it never happened.

@Tumbleguy1 said: You can not burn any blogger blog with artificial traffic

OP was never going to create artificial traffic. Read his original post again.

@Tumbleguy1 said: even they hate fake or real copyright

What exactly do you mean by fake copyright? Every hosting provider worth his salt takes copyright claims seriously.

@Tumbleguy1 said: Yet the allow porn with adult confirmation to visitor

Whats the problem with that? That is exactly what the rules specify. If you click you are an adult you accept responsibility to view adult content. If you are not an adult and still click on the box, then its not the hosting provider's fault. If you have a better way of determining someone's exact age on the internet let us know.

@Tumbleguy1 said: When they detects that 1000req/5 sec they will surely check the request and if fake -

OP has a legitimate use case. Where are you getting the fake request idea from?

@Tumbleguy1 said: Delete is what expected...

Possibly, but not in OPs case. Read OPs original post again.

@Tumbleguy1 said: Why not buy vps? LET has great providers I believe and supportive too.

OP had trouble serving those requests from a dedi. If you have any beefy VPS that can handle OPs use case feel free to share here.

Flawed, maybe. But it's an advice nonetheless. And I don't see , what I am going to do is a violation whatsoever.

Google forms has added quiz functionality. It's not limited to only doing survey anymore. And I am doing exactly that. How is using a service for what it's intended is a violation ?

The reason why 1000 hit in 5 sec, is because I am going to schedule post the quiz. When the time comes , ALL OF THE 1000 students will refresh my blog, and start the quiz.

It's a real human , with real use. I failed to see my use of service is a violation or anything similar.

Google runs on a single WAMP server.

  • Be that as it may. I believe when they detect unusual traffic , they will just throw some captcha to the visitor.

I myself has been asked to solve captcha several times just because I Google A LOT.

  • My friend's blog had about 100k-ish UV/day at Blogger with custom domain. Suddenly they delete the entire blog without notification. Happened again on my another friend who had .blogspot.com subdomain highest traffic in my country.

TL;DR. Never put a serious blog on free service.

It's just a quiz, nothing serious. After the test and the submission is saved on the google spreadsheet, google can delete the blog, I will just create another one.

It's not like I will build the blog from scratch and to rank on the search engine or something. It's just a simple 1 page of google form blog.
