cPanel and Plesk Now Owned By The Same Company – What Does It Mean?

cPanel will continue to run as an independent business even after the acquisition. FYI, both cPanel and Plesk offer control panel solutions for Linux hosting. However, Plesk has something that cPanel does not – and that’s Windows hosting.
The competition between the two is now pretty much dead. Will that be a good thing, or a bad thing, only time will show. Will Oakley Capital, holding a monopoly on the business? So that’s mean, shared hosting isn’t going to die anytime soon?

No competition it’s sucks as they can dictate the prices as directadmin control panel is not even close to cPanel or Plesk!
That one is a speculation thread while mine is a confirmed acquisition. I’d love to know what people think about it recently. 😂

In a few words, it means everyone is screwed.
What it means is they're both owned by the same company.
It means someone could build an alternative and be the alternative, but they'll figure out it's harder than it seems.
Why? for me DirectAdmin is more powerful and give you more freedom than cpanel, no mention of plesk Seriously, what gives you cpanel that cannot be achieved in DA? Not to mention that DA is much much cheaper than cpanel and also it using components that are compiled from source so it it much faster than cpanel.
