Whitch is better for monitoring? Pay for pingdom.com monthly price or maybe the nmon server monitor with status page can do same?

  • How can you compare? One is SaaS with multiple locations and one is a script.

Well yeah. Just try to find an option to worth it or not. Or just pingdom. Second is also a bit cheaper in long term.

  • What are you looking to achieve with either of those options?

Monitor server status and ping check. As it is not a SaaS just a script thinking worth to buy or not.

    Better use Pingdom

  • You could always check out http://uptimerobot.com to see if that would work for you. They provide a free version that is almost fully featured and it works absolutely great.

  • I'm very happy with Nodeping. It may not have some of Pingdom's advanced features (though it does everything I want). OTOH, it's a bit cheaper, especially if you have a fleet of low-end boxes.

Neither. Ive been testing HetrixTools @HBAndrei via their free tier and it has exceeded my expectations. It knocks the competition out of the water! I cant wait to upgrade but hoping for a promo soon. :P

Trust me. give them a try.

Pingdom, no comparison. It really comes down to what you need it for.

  • HetrixTools, you can't go wrong.

Pinguzo is free and good for monitoring server health along with uptime.

I think pingdom is more reliable, for me, so far.

    Just my personal experience. :)

You still have to host the script, and you're not safe from a down of your server where you host it.

I personally work with and warmly recommend Nixstats (https://nixstats.com/#features).
They offer a free offer and are providing status pages.
