What are the use cases?
May be it will help to increase sale?
Basically everything you can use a server with dedicated IPv4 except IPv4 name server's and mail server's.
Think of it as your PC behind your home router.
Mikho also had a great explanation, I have quoted it below.
Not so much, because none the most popular VPN protocols (PPTP, IKEv1/L2TP, IKEv2, SSTP) will work on IPv4 by default because of NAT, and you can't really change the ports easily for these protocols.
I use mine for Shadowsocks-libev. Works perfectly.
Bought the NAT-256 one last week, been using it with fluxbb and testing stuff with crystal-lang. It's rock solid, loving it.
Maybe iptables and pre/post routing will help. I guess still can add a port on most client software including windows10. Otherwise if you are on linux you can add a rule with iptables too. Or just use openvpn.
These types of service is focused on ipv6 and ipv4 (20+1 ports) are only there as an extended service.
so before i make a purchase.. i'm wanting to run something similar as fluxbb. i actually have a hosting provider else where and as my website is small, i'm looking to avoid the $30 quarterly.
anyways, is it easy to set this up for mybb or fluxbb?
Yeah, I recommend FluxBB or PunBB for smaller VPSs like this (256 ram). It's more lightweight than MyBB. But MyBB obviously has more features so its up to you. Although, to be fair there are quite a bit of plugins for fluxbb/punbb.
I am running just the 256MB one and put the server behind cloudflare. With debian 8 and just php5-fpm, nginx, mysql it's around 130mb ram. I'm testing stuff with Paypal's sandbox IPN lately and honestly, this server has been far more rock solid than Woot's $7/yr. Also has a lot faster CPU. The read/write speed is way faster as well
But it depends on how many concurrent forum users you have tbh. If you have quite a lot (20-35), I recommend at least the 1GB variant.
But anything more than that, I'm not sure if you'd be better off on a dedicated core machine. Am not sure, but hope that helps
PunBB Stable release was October 2015. That why I choose MyBB.
Why it notice me this:
Please enter a valid fully qualified domain name (e.g. host.domain.com) for the hostname.
I just use the free domain.
Can u help me?
Just enter “host.domain.com”
thanks
hi, can it run rdp? thanks
Can't get OpenVPN to install. IPv4 NAT doesn't work for me. I got it running fine on an online.net & kimsufi server.. but I get actual IPv4 on those servers. Either I'm too lazy/dumb to get around the VPS limitations. So, far, its a useless VPS for me. Anyone else fare better?
RDP usually implies Windows. It is not one of the server OS you can install. It is a flavor of Linux (CentOS, Debian, or Ubuntu).
When I try to upgrade from 128MB to 256MB, it wants $2.43... Total I pay is $4.43... You'd think it'd be cheaper like $2 paid, then maybe $1.75 pay more because some service time has past?
Promotional codes don’t get applied to upgrades. It is how the billing portal was designed.
After many tries, I was able to install OpenVPN (https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/howto-setup-openvpn-server-on-ubuntu-linux-14-04-or-16-04-lts/) on Ubuntu 14.0.4 32-bit and connect from my laptop.
KiB Mem: 262144 total, 236764 used, 25380 free, 0 buffers
KiB Swap: 0 total, 0 used, 0 free. 221136 cached Mem
I have 25MB of memory free on the 256MB plan. Not sure how someone can sell a 128MB plan and claim it can install OpenVPN. I tried 128MB plan with Ubuntu 16.0.4 LTS 64-bit and never got OpenVPN to install. If you offer 128MB plan, at least document the specs you need to get OpenVPN working instead of saying, "If you are too lazy to research and figure it out for yourself then that is YOUR problem." Granted, Cam Gullo said no support, so it is up to me to figure out.
What's the point of a KB though... to not have your customers repeat the same mistakes over and over again. I question who is "lazy" in this instance...
almost 200 days uptime) good solution for openvpn server for 2$/y
Knock on wood
I dunno what you did but for me everything is totally fine. I got the 128mb with ubuntu 16 and openvpn running. It is using 30mb so there is still a lot of space to use.
I kept getting a fatal error every time toward the end of the install. Maybe I could have tried a re-install and started with a fresh Ubuntu 16 for the OpenVPN installation.
How is the bandwidth calculated?
Is it inbound/outbound or the sum of IO?
It is inbound and outbound.
Hi, May I ask any plan to expand your business to UK(Set up UK vps hosting)?
Not at this time.
Is that possible if I change my location after purchase your VPS?
Yes, a $1 fee will apply
