.img file into a VPS ?

nikcnikc Member

hola all.

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience / can offer suggestions on an issue i have.

I would like to spin up a VPS on my KVM host running Solus. Sadly the vendor doesnt supply and ISO for installation - only a .img file.

There doesnt seem to be any option in Solus to get the VM spun up, so what would the steps be to get it up an running ?

Cheers

Nik

In really basic terms, boot the VM in to rescue mode, dd the img file over to the vm disk.

  • Use rescue mode or Install a debian/ubuntu to dd a OS.

Thanks Chaps - sorted it now via UBCD and then one of the utils in there let me run download the file and then dd it over. Sorted.

I've heard about photos of dedicated servers, but photos of VPS... I am curious how these can be made.
