I guess that because google targets finnish audience and because finnish IX traffic is expensive, while Hetzner targets the german/central european market mainly which made them invest in a fiber link to de-cix.

Now I got VPS running on their platform. The pings are actually catastrophical. It's practically 8 times worse than UpCloud or Hetzner. 18 ms vs ~2 ms on both of the mentioned alternatives.

im getting ~40ms ping on gcp, compared to ~20 im getting at hetzner cloud located at finland

Even tho i think the hetzner traffic goes to germany before coming back to my place (in finland), googles testip tracert goes to a bunch of ips more (and just throwing request timed out at the end), most saying they are on US, but im just geoip'ng the ips, so maybe they just arent updated, or their test ip works little different (just like you cant ping it, need to visit the website to get pong (or just curl im assuming)

anyway imo they are for different customers anyway, so im happy with my hetzner for now

Yes, 1 ms to Hetzner, 52 ms to Google. Way to go.

It's also interesting observation that Google Cloud Finland is servered by Cloudflare FRA. Not Cloudflare HEL. It's quite obvious that the routing is extremely bad.

Anyway, I love the name Hetzner is using for the DC. hel1 lol... Depending what font you're using it's more or less amusing.
