Vultr now offering Skylake for $10+ plans

image

$10 plans or above now get the Skylake CPU.

As usual, no/low availability in London, so we don't get the benefit.

Haven't they been offering that for the past few months already? I believe those are the new cores they have been using in their US locations like NJ, Chicago, Atlanta, etc.

Would be interesting to benchmark them against DO and Linode

Maybe the cpu guru @eva2000 got more informations on this ? :)

Well, they don't lies about their benchmarks:

    https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/8588174

Still not equivalent to those 3.6Ghz cores thought

I guess that once the node is filled at capacites, those numbers will drops as usual.

Compiling PHP 7.2.5 with 2 cores...

haven't tried myself but one of my Centmin Mod users posted Vultr 4 cpu Skylake benchmarks at https://community.centminmod.com/threads/vultr-benchmarks-with-new-2-6-ghz-cpus.14905/ definitely one of the faster Skylake Xeon offerings due to clock speed.

Developers don't care for shit like this. Just scale, vertical , horizontal, 2-3 clicks done.

Well in their favour they offer bigger disks space and they got faster SSD arrays compared to vultr. CPU wise, yeah that's not their strenght...

Isn't the faster SSD arrays only used for benchmarking? In real world workloads, the vultr speeds are often more than enough.
