Why do VPS signup pages ask for nameserver?

  • The next whmcs release should have this option, but for now they can hide the ns for each order group.

  • Alternately, it's not that difficult to just write in a smarty switch that hides the fields for products that don't need them, and display them otherwise.

  • ^ This. Why waste time on waiting for the upstream developer to add in some complex code for it which may take many months to get to you when you can add a few lines of PHP that does an equally effective job and be done in minutes? It's not even that hacky really. shrug

Some people make things more difficult for themselves I tell ya. :P

  • Well its useful if you offer cpanel VPS's and have to setup the customers vps for them. Beats having to ask them what they want for nameservers.

And also the fact that WHMCS is designed to sell hosting where nameservers input is important to list.
