ftp - can login, ftp refused on ls
Moved a site lately to centminmod new install. Notices that my updraftplus ftp backups weren't working and that the plugin could login to the remote server but couldn't create a file. I tried a command line ftp session. Again - could login, could do pwd, but ls gave a "connection refused". The firewall is allowing connections in and out on port 21 on centminmod.
Usually I would suspect the remote backup server, but that's happily accepting ftp backups from other shared hosting. I'm just using vestacp to provision separate ftp accounts for each site. I'm using rackspace to store backups for now, but would like to figure this out.

FTP uses more than just port 21. Make sure you understand how the other ports are used and if you need active vs. passive ftp: http://slacksite.com/other/ftp.html
