You should try again, maybe from watchmouse. I have a presence in the same colo as BuyVM, so unless San Jose was moved recently, this IP address is in Vegas.
San Jose would be more than 10ms away, and clearly this is less than 1ms(same building, in Las Vegas). See the "las" in the trace -- Las Vegas airport is referred to as LAS.

Some GEO databases will still show the IP's as being in San Jose.
I can assure you, though, that we have no equipment in San Jose anymore.
205.185.112.1 is one of our gateways in Vegas.

here are many providers that offer you VPS in las Vegas, but you say the whois are not in nevada, then what are you looking?
