Open Source Ping/Stats
Hi Guys,
Is there a cheap pinging company that alerts someone when their server is down. Been looking at pingdom and datadog but they're both expensive (even though they offer great graphs etc). Was thinking of getting a dedi with online.net and running some software there (maybe opensource) that can ping my other servers. Is there a cheaper, just as good alternative than these two?
Thanks.

Statuscake.
I've used smokeping for simple monitoring in the past and been pretty happy with it.
I currently use Icinga2 for monitoring as it has been fairly easy to automate adding/removing hosts.
https://nodequery.com/ is all you need. Seriously.
UptimeRobot free level is good too, will ping an app on your phone.
Take a look at https://hetrixtools.com/uptime-monitor/ (tagging @HBAndrei who is active on LET). You can start with their free tier and upgrade as required.
@nullnothere thanks for the recommandation and for the tag.
@hexuk if you decide to try out HetrixTools and have any questions or need any help, be sure to let me know.
Lowest tier Scaleway service and install Observium.
I switched from Nixstats to HetrixTools and its great
