What to do with a 512MB Ram VPS?
Hey,
First, I know there are 1912438098190238910238123098 of these threads. But I still don't know what to do with my three idleing VPSes.
I have these packages:
2x 512MB Ram, 512 Swap, 5GB Space, 500GB Traffic (paid annually)
1x 512MB Ram, 10GB Space, 500GB Traffic (paid monthly)
For one of these I already have a task: I would like to cancel my webhosting contract (I just use it as backup space and as email server) and use my own mail server.
But what could I do with the other two? Atm I'm running tor nodes, but for that I have other VPS :P

Would be an idea, tbh I already thought about it. The problem is that If the new owner does something illegal I will get the problems

I mean, as in donate your idle server to me and I'll add it to the list so people can speed test to your server?
An account work on the server would work as well with the shell set to /bin/false.
I need proftpd to run on a certain port, jail uploads to user's home directory
& a cron job that removes all files in the speedtest's home directory every minute
Install gitfactory on it and host open source projects for cheap or free

I really wanna data mine but I'm not sure what to Datamine with.
Install NSD, setup a php based management control panel, and use your unused VPS to start up a free service called LowEndDNS.com. Provide no cost DDOS-filtered DNS service to the LEB/LET Community similar to what freedns.afraid.org or everydns.net etc.
On the slave DNS nodes, just set up a bunch of AFXRs for each domain.
As it's a shared 100MB/s port I don't want to use that much bandwidth :P But maybe when I have another server

DNS would be possible. Maybe I should check that out :P
Set up a mail hosting on one and webhosting on another. With antispam and virus checker running on the mail, you will quickly eat up that 512mb ram.
