I cut my teeth on Slackware 2.1. In a fit of nostalgia, I've reset all of my screensavers to xlock(more).

They want to relive the horror of trying to get a winmodem working on Slackware during the 90's with no internet access. I still have nightmares.

    Is that so? Really?

And you, do you know that "linux server" can mean a fucking lot, namely anything between "small tight alpine with just the necessary" and "fucking bloated lots of crap plus the kitchen sink abomination"?

Slackware is an acquired taste, not easy to acquire, but once you acquire it ...

xscreensaver, baby! xlock is a bit passé, even for Slackware users, but it's still there!

  • Ubuntu

  • Ubuntu LTS for multi-purpose servers/Desktop.

Debian Stable for single-purpose server (fileserver, nginx/haproxy, SFTP storage)

  • FHRFHR Member, Host Rep

    CentOS 7 only.

  • Debian.

    ...and Ubuntu for Docker

  • Mostly CentOS 7 and Ubuntu

  • Debian and Centos 7

  • Debian & old Debian for my @cociu box

    Thanked by 2default JohnRoe
  • CentOS for production stuff, Debian for personal stuff, and Ubuntu as a fallback for both situations.

  • Debian and CentOS.

  • Debian

  • Centos debian fedora and Freebsd on the serious stuff.

  • Started on slackware in the late 90s. Moved across to Debian and Ubuntu. A smattering of FreeBSD 11.

    CentOS 6 > CentOS 7 > Fedora > Ubuntu/Debian > literally any other OS > Windows > Slackware (because AuroraZ said it)

Windows? Yeah, I’m going to deal with that lost cause.

I am so sorry for your loss. Still Slackware.
