VPS on Intel Xeon E3 in Singapore or India?

Does anyone know anybody providing VPSes with strong single-core performance, such as those with Intel E3 Xeon series, in Singapore or India?

Price per core should not be more than $10-12. I already know about Upcloud ($10 per core). But their network (starhub) is not ideal. Same thing with OVH. They have powerful cores (4,200 on Geekbench), but the network's terrible.

Oneprovider would have worked, but their network can be patchy at times (already burnt my fingers once.)

I'm aware of DO's 'optimized droplets', but at $20 per core (and a minimum of 2 cores), it's outside my budget. Same thing with Vultr's dedicated (starting at $60 per month).

Indovirtue has an offer as well, but it also costs $20 for a single core machine with 1 GB.

In all, I don't need a lot of cores, 1 or 2 would do, but each core has to be good (think Geekbench score of 4,000 or more).

Typical cores from Linode, Vultr, Conoha, Softlayer and DO score only only in the range of 2,500 points on Geekbench. Amazon AWS is better (3,300 points) and I used to be on it, but my instance became unreachable every now and then, in the afternoons mostly.

I believe players like GigsGigs, ikoula and ExpertVM don't provide decent CPU power either. ExpertVM has very good network connectivity to India, but nothing's mentioned about the CPU.

Any help?

  • Not sure what Host4Fun uses with regards to their CPU, they only state that it's a Xeon on their site:

    @caracal thanks or tagging .

We are using E3 CPU. We can also provide 1 dedicated core/thread with per 4GB Ram package .

My KVM in Singapore run on i7-6700K CPUs now. But, CPU isn't dedicated and the smaller plans are only 1 core. The systems running i7's are very underutilized though.

    https://extravm.com/kvmvps.html
    https://sgp.lg.extravm.com

Geekbench on that CPU is around 4100-4800 single core.

Obviously this is on OVH, but if you have issues with routing it can be fixed with a ticket.

  • For India, I would recommend @leapswitch contact Ishan for the same.

  • I raised a ticket with OVH. They got back to me after a couple of days to tell me that their network provider has expressed helplessness on fixing the routing issue.

Essentially, out of the four major ISPs in India, they have direct access only to four. The other two go via the US.

  • Unlikely that leapswitch is using E3. I remember trying them a couple of years ago.

  • They appear to be having the same problem as ikoula. No direct route from India's largest ISP Reliance JIo to their sgp dc. I get about 60% of my traffic from Jio.

  • For an Indian company, it's kind of surprising that they don't offer anything from India :(

@elos42 we do have plan to offer VPS in India location in near future.

  • Please make it Chennai. We have options in Delhi and Mumbai, and even Blr, nothing affordable in Chennai, even though it's a pretty busy port for US and Asian traffic.

  • tried Leaseweb sgp?

  • their cpu is e5 2 ghz class.

We do have a few legacy E3 nodes. Depending on your needs I can surely find some space on them. Newer nodes are E5.

Hi, please find the mtr from Jio. (Traffic goes from India to LA before reaching Singapore.)
