Looking for a VPS closest to me...

When I traceroute, I think the first machine I can see on the internet is:

ggr2.la2ca.ip.att.net

Anyone have a VPS connected directly to that? I'm looking for something cheap... just going to run a softether server on there.

Thank you.

Take a look through the offers section and just ping the test ips of the hosts that have LA locations (there's quite a few of them!).

  • Out of curiosity, what's the use case?

  • Eladex - Just want to get rid of throttling from AT&T. If I use a trial VPN on Android, all buffering magically goes away.

MasonR - Thanks. I'll take a look at the offers section.

I don't think you need to fine someone directly connected to your first hop - as a benchmark, I tunnel all my Internet traffic from my house to a colo about 15ms (and 10ish hops) away. I am easily able to saturate my 75mbps cable connection and haven't noticed any performance issues, including with VoIP and gaming. This is using l2tp over IPSec.
