OpenVPN is quite lightweight, < 5mb for me, you don't need worry about memory to run it unless you plan to share it with hundreds of people.
It's using 3MB on my KVM VPS with 1 active connection.
OpenVPN uses pretty much nothing even with hundreds of people, the overhead per connection is very low.
