OVH KVM with only IPv6

v3ngv3ng Member, Host Rep

Hello,

Is anyone here running a KVM VM on an OVH server with ONLY an IPv6 address?
I have tried several instructions on a SYS server with Proxmox 5.0 on it, but it isn't working.

Oh? Could you come back with some error logs?

There are no logs, VMs without an IPv4/ the vMAC of an IPv4 get blocked by the OVH router.
There are workarounds, but it seems like they are not working anymore.

  • I did this a while back. Make sure you turn on ipv6 forwarding, proxy_ndp, and bindv6only. then setup your ipv6 block on a virtual interface like vmbr2 and bind your vm network adapters on the same interface. use the ipv6 of the new interface as the gateway on your vm clients and add static entries for the inet6 neighbors to your routing table for each client vm.
