Looking for VPS / Linux for GUI Use

edited March 2018 in Requests

Hello

I'm looking for a linux vps, preferably with ubuntu, on which i can install either xfce or lxqt.
I will mostly use if for browsing and LibreOffice.

I think i will need the following specs, does it seem OK?

  • 2 CPU Cores
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 20GB Disk Space
  • 1 IP v4

@Providers, what can you propose at the cheapest please ?
Any yearly deal like Wg?

Comments

  • Using X11 over NAT can be fun unless you're just going to tunnel over SSH.

There are plenty of providers who can help you out- @AnthonySmith, @Virmach, @vpsrus, et al.. Black Friday is a few weeks away. You can make out like a felon on BF deals.

@OSS I changed your thread title from:

"Looking for VPS / linux GUI"

    to:

"Looking for VPS / linux for GUI Use"

The original sounds like you're asking for recommendations on which GUI. What you're actually asking for is a VPS to use a GUI on...you'll get more replies with the corrected title.

However, if you disagree, feel free to change it back.

  • Ok thanks @WSS, I'll wait for BF if i can't find anything.

The title is perfect @raindog308, thanks.

    Location?

    Location?

Europe is better but anywhere around the globe should do the job.

Sofia, Bulgaria ? Would that be ok?
I would offer Germany but I’m running out of resources there.

  • It should be OK. Do you have a link for a download test ?

Does HostUS 2GB Special OVZ look good enough for you? It's available to order in UK and NL for $35/yr.

So why not just share your budget initially then? Don't you think it looks kind of disrespectfull?

Thank you all guys. Till now no one beats Wong offer posted on LEB. I'll either go for that or wait for BF.

I know that Scaleway is out of your budget but it can do the job until BF offers if you're in a hurry

  • Most of them can but i would really recommend getting comfortable in shell it's must faster and waaay more capable. It hasn't survived this long because we're nerds.
