Looking for VPS in Nuremberg DCs

YmpkerYmpker Member
edited October 2017 in Requests

1 vCore

512mb ram

1 Gbit/s port shared (~1 TB/traffic per month)

1 IPv4

Location: Some DC in Nuremberg (Germany)

Budget: Don't really have one. Looking for options.

This is gonna be for a private VPN. I will use it on just about all my devices.

Thought about Netcup vServer but they only offer 100 Mbit/s. The Rootservers with 1 Gbit/s port start at 7€/mo which is a bit overkill imho. Hetzner offers a 1 Gbit/s port with their VPS line starting from 4,64€/mo what else is out there?

@Falzo
Any recommendations? What about ultravps?

  • Meh :/ Price higher than netcup + I got 50% package loss when I pinged them.

  • Maybe @AlexBarakov from alphavps.bg can you give a deal. I believe they are in Nuremberg. http://lgde.alphavps.bg/

Were you pinging our looking glass or our site? The main site is on a completely separate network and has various firewall rules in place which might cause problems with ICMP.

@Falco33 - we are indeed in Nuremberg, however, we currently do not run any specials on VM offerings. BlackFriday is approaching, though :)

Interesting, there hasn't been any reported issues recently & no issues flagged to us by monitoring; might be network specific between us and you.

There was an upstream maintenance overnight which could potentially have had some impact on traffic between Copenhagen and Stockholm, but this was completed around 6h ago.

If you're interested in debugging this further (whether interested in our services or not) please feel free to let me know what ISP you use or your IP address via pm and I'll run some tests.

For me everything is fine when going via DE-CIX to the Core-Backbone Afterburst network. No loss or something else.

for netcup it doesn't seem to me, that their vserver range really is limited to that 100mbit.

yet, probably not guaranteed in any way :-)

besides contabo I can't think of other providers directly in nuremberg. even worse if they should be cheaper than that.

maybe frankfurt is an option? should be only 3-4 ms away or any provider on the hetzner network in falkenstein, which also should be not more than 3-4ms ( @mikho )

    Thanked by 1Ympker
  • Thanks @Falzo :) Netcup is ofc tempting and yeah I knew about Contabo but when it really comes down to have a great network SLA Id rather look elsewhere :P But yeah, you are right Frankfurt might be good as well. I have no good memories when it comes to Düsseldorf since MyLoc/Webtropia... I guess you know why... Does Ultra resell them or do their own hw&dc?

  • Ympker said: Does Ultra resell them or do their own hw&dc?

uh, I don't really know that... @UltraVPS most likely have their own hardware and uplinks there - but I can't tell about the DC itself. so far I haven't seen any issues in the last few years which would make me think about Düsseldorf being a bad location.

Ympker said: But yeah, you are right Frankfurt might be good as well.

for that you probably will get a lot of options. zxhost, vps247, kms-hosting, farnox to name a few...

To be fair, it is ”only” 500gb/month at full speed with the 256mb package.
It will be throttled to 5mb/s after that.

Guess I could double the bandwidth for another $5/year.

If you accept that the bandwidth follows the duration of the vps.
If you buy the upgrade after 6months, you still pay $5 but the duration is only for the remaining 6 months.
The renewal price is then $7+$5/year.

Don’t expect to many special BF deals when it comes to NAT services. Can’t get much cheaper then it already is.

And with that attitude you’ll probably end up with something more expensive instead.
