@Oliver
can you provide? RAM 512MB plan
No sorry, decided after a long time to not bother with anything lower. Honestly the base business costs and IP value make any smaller plans totally unviable.
@Jones just guessing out loud here, but he probably won't offer that for the same reason you have to pay quarterly, stuff in Japan is quite expensive and accepting any lower payment he probably loses most of his profit in fees. I would expect this is the most feasible offer he can offer for that location and still make money.
my 2 cents.
Cheers!
@Oliver Look like you beat me to my reply
I am so tempted to order I just don't have the $21 atm to spend up front, wish I did. Maybe if you keep this offer for a while I will be able to get one
Cheers!
Well...Ransom IT.....Feels like I'm paying ransom if I purchase your product......
Haha, that comment is inevitable. My surname is Ransom so the business name comes from there. No family history of anything to do with hostages as far as I know!
..but you are Australian?
170-190ms from Korea Telecom, my ping is getting through HK before Japan...
Congrats on the expansion, @Oliver. I've been real happy with my box in AU since 2014. If somebody took it hostage, I'd pay the "Ransom". <grin>
I'm going to grab one in JP now. Thanks.
I might even give Perth a try. Western Aussie blokes need monitoring too, yeah?
What speed port?
Also on KT, however it suddenly dropped to about 110ms avg.
A while ago it was 160ms+ with KT though...
Here's SK
Slightly better on LG U+
On Linode, Vultr, AWS and others (basically everyone but Kagoya from what I know) it is usually between 30ms to 50ms.
On KT I get about 2 MB/s on the test file - on Linode, Vultr and IDCF (/Yahoo JP) it can go beyond 10 MB/s.
So yeah, not quite ideal for Korea, but still a nice offer, so thanks for that @Oliver and good luck with sales!
To be honest, if your surname is Ransom, it doesn't take to be a professor of sciences to come to an idea to not name your company after such surname...
Good luck my friend! Wish you all the best.
He seems to be doing rather well for himself. I've had an OZ LES with him for awhile that is on par with IH's pricing for UK, and it just works. What else is there to be said?
I welcome any feedback regarding the network so appreciate those traceroutes. It is a relatively new POP so some routing is perhaps able to be improved by prodding the right people... I will check a few based on the comments above already.
@NodePing thank you. At this stage VPS not offered in Perth but adding it there and Brisbane is highly likely in the near future.
@szarka 1gbit on my side but generally I cap KVM VPS to 200mbit more to protect everyone by default. If the higher port speed is genuinely needed I don't mind uncapping it.
@salakis Thank you; as above will see what can be done to improve this.
@rm_ my business has a strong association with my own name Oliver, and then very quickly to my surname as well. If anything it's a positive because it is memorable and identifiable and the personal association to my name works well since I tend to get along with more or less everyone who I cross paths with. Once people get the connection I really don't see why it matters. In any case I am not a professor so didn't choose another name at the start. :-)
Both of my VPS from RansomIT run without any problems for 4.5 and 4 years. I can not see any "Ransom" here. Keep up that good work @Oliver
I have already one VPS in Tokio (with Vultr), so no purchase from me today. But I am interested in a Perth or Brisbane location and I will wait for that to be available.
Cheers
I can get pretty good speed from KT (Seoul).
