Sources of interesting but (for me) pointless software like the old freshmeat.net

edited October 2017 in General

Many years ago, I used to look at Freshmeat.net almost every day and keep an eye out for software that interested me. This closed down, and although it was sort of replaced with freshcode.club, this was never as comprehensive as the original freshmeat.net.

Is there something else like it?

The kinds of software I found interesting (meant to give you an idea of my eclectic and wideranging tastes):

`- PSPPP - A free statistical package meant to replace SPSS

  • QueXF - A form scanning and analysis application designed to work with Limesurvey
  • Exponent CMS - A CMS with in-line editing
  • OroCRM - A CRM
  • QGIS - An open source and relatively easy to use GIS solution
  • Virtualmin - An easy to install and administer 'CPanel' like thing

oldversion.com for, well, older, less bloated versions of software.

VersionTracker used to exist for OSX, but it doesn't.

CNet closed their "latest software" tool a few years ago.
