For all those who are jumping to conclusions and making false statements. We were forced to bump up the prices by rising power costs which are beyond our control. By bumping the price to $30 (some clients even less as we did what we could for them) we still managed to compete very well in the market place and beat most competitors. Offering services at cost or below cost is not a great business plan and can end in disaster which we did not want :) .

£10 per U is available in the UK. 10U for £100, includes 2A power and 5 IPs.

    £10 = $16

    2A UK = 4A US. useful for 2 or 3 servers I guess

$15 per month would barely cover the cost of electricity in Florida even if they were buying directly from the utility.

  • Rents are normally nothing, its the power that is the real cost. We spent about 30-40x more on power than we do on rent.

I don't think when you promise something for life and then change the price two months later as jumping to conclusions. Why were you forced to change prices? Aren't you your own solvent business?

what's the split on power to run servers / power to cool the servers ?

thermodynamics means power in == power out. I'm guessing that aircon costs must be 25-30% of total energy cost of the DC

so does yumura do colo in their DCs ? or just dedi & VPS via delimiter?

  • @Bruce - Yomura doesn't do much colo, we need the space and more importantly power for our own operations.Sites such as St Louis, Minneapolis, Portland there is space and power to offer colo but its handled on a case-by-case basis.

Wow. Lyron Foster. Saying it never ends well is an understatement...I would phrase it as "swallowing nitroglycerin never ends well"

Are you a successor to W2?

Do you have any affiliation whatsoever with Lyron Foster?
