Suggestions for a good Linux Email Client

Hi,

I am looking for a good Linux Email Client (running Linux Mint 32-bit) that supports multiple accounts. I tried Evolution, but today when I tried to add a Gmail account, Google denied the sign-on marking the app as "Less Secure".

Thunderbird is an option, but I want to try something new. Nylas Mail (https://www.nylas.com/) looks good, but they only have 64-bit .deb files. (I might try building it from source, but that is for a later date).

Any suggestions from the folks here. Much appreciated.

Thanks,
Ramesh

I prefer Geary for gnome, but I also use Evolution to intergrate my contacts and calendars from my CalDAV server.
Nylas and N1 are dead, so don't bother.
Thunderbird is a good option, too. Lot's of addons.

  • Claws Mail. You'll be amazed how fast and how feature-full it is.

  • Thanks for the suggestions. Did anyone else get the "Less Secure App" message when trying to connect a Gmail account?

I will give Claws a try.

Yep. It's part of their security thing they do. You can enable it safely enough. I use K-9 on my phone for email (for the last 5 years) and had to confirm the choice to use it. No worries there.

  • Thank you @thagoat. Will enable it in settings.

I use Thunderbird on Manjaro, it works pretty well but I'm going to try some of the stuff mentioned In this thread.

Only downside is that I have a lot of accounts so I have to be sure before switching since its a pain to add them all again.

I have several dozen regular accounts which funnel down to 9 which are set up in my Claws mail client. Adding accounts is fairly straightforward and you have a lot of control. I like being able to specify directories for everything and dealing with my mail like normal files. Every few years there's more old mail than is convenient in my inbox (yes I have all my mail from the last 10 years) so I just put them all in a directory labeled 2012-2014 or similar. I can still just click on them in Claws. I'm not very familiar with a lot of other email clients but Claws searches for "from", "Subject" etc in a 10K email directory is near instant. Search for a word in the body of all those messages takes longer of course, but it will do it easily and conveniently.
