WHMCS internal licenses, any changes?

Hi folks,

Wondering if I should get another VPS with @AlexanderM, their service/support is superb and they provide cheap WHMCS licenses though I am quite worried with the recent changes in WHMCS's licensing model. Any partners confirm that they will keep the internal licenses for the same price and limits? I am afraid WHMCS might bump the price or start introducing limits that would end up not worth purchasing an internal license but rather go direct.

Any advice/opinion or official information?

Cheers

@MikePT internal licenses change effective July 5. Up to 250 clients remain the same prices, and anything above that adds additional charges.

Thank you. Do you know their new pricing then? What can we expect?

    Dear Valued WHMCS Reseller,

As you may already know on Oct. 3rd, 2016 we announced the introduction of a tiered pricing structure for our direct license customers.

Following the announcement we have had the opportunity to reach out to numerous reseller partners, as well as collect direct input from all our clients. Based on this feedback we will be introducing the following changes to the Reseller Program.

Beginning on July 1st, 2017, a tiered pricing structure will be implemented for resold licenses as follows:

Up to 250 clients No change
    251 – 1000 Clients Your Volume Base Price + $10
1001+ Clients Your Volume Base Price + $20

Licenses for over 251 clients include no-branding as standard.

We would like to note that your current base price, which is determined by the volume of resold licenses you manage, will not be changing.

For example, here is the resold license purchase cost for a reseller whose volume is 2nd level pricing:

    - License up to 250 Clients with Branding - $12.80 (No change)
    - License up to 250 Clients with No Branding - $14.80 (No change)
    - License up to 1000 Clients with No Branding - $22.80
    - License over 1000 Clients with No Branding - $32.80

During our consultation period, maintaining a direct relationship with the license holder was a top priority for resellers therefore these changes were designed to ensure that can remain.

We will be publishing new API commands that help you track and determine when licenses are approaching their client limit. If you are using the WHMCS License Manager, these new API commands will be incorporated in order to automate the license upgrade process. Additionally, based on your collective feedback, the License Manager will receive other features that improve and simplify license management. The new API commands and the updated WHMCS License Manager will be available at least 30 days prior to the introduction of the new pricing structure.

We truly appreciate you as a reselling partner and look forward to your continued success.

If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected]

    Sincerely,

    WHMCS Reseller Team

Very, very useful, exactly what I was looking for. So if I signup for an internal license right now will I be affected by the limits or will it be for new customer licenses?

At this point I think its worth to signup with HostBill if you have lots of clients... Their support costs money tho.

  • qpsqps Member, Host Rep

    @MikePT - here's what it costs.

Up to 250 clients base price (still has branded/no branding options)
251-1000 clients base price plus $10/month (only no branding)
1001+ clients base price plus $20/month (only no branding)

Base price is set by volume. Also, the 251-1000 and 1001+ tiers are now branding free, so there is no up charge for the branding removal.

@MikePT since you are with us, we've just sent out an email to current license holders with new WHMCS prices starting next month.

I haven't received it, no idea why!

But, still considering if I should go for direct or not... Might just spin up another VM with you, still considering it. In long term, 30/40 bucks a month is quite a lot, granted that 1k clients should cover that just fine, but it's still a damn huge change.
