Provider selling HDD as SSD and calling it a "promotion".

Recently became aware of this "company" posting on forums, stating that this plan:

SSD 100 Gb.
RAM 1 Gb.
Data Transfer 3000 Gb.

Is a promotion. The price rounds up to $8 which is insane. People are falling for this shit thinking it's an SSD. How do I prove he's full of shit?

It's the first plan listed here: https://www.nakhonitech.com/vps-linux-inter.html

Buy 10, insist they are on the same node, fill up your disk space with dd.

12 GB RAM, 300 GB Pure SSD @ 9€/mo. Thats Contabos cheapest plan. Now this is legit and insane at the same time. I tested it myself here

+++++ This might be very funny but i think you will get suspended at the speed of light.

SSD for servers are EXPENSIVE, they play with 100gb ssd for low price only because they HOPE the people will not use their space, since i dont think no one could afford to allocate 1TB of ssd for 80$

Why would you be suspended for resources you paid for? It's not like "fair share" cpu. Disk space and RAM you can't really be suspended for..

You can be suspended for disk IO abuse if it impacts other users, this is different to using your allocated space.

But in reality, you could write 500mb every 5 minutes on an SSD and never even be on the radar, I am not suggesting trying to write 1TB all in 1 GO.

But aside from all this, is there really any need?

The ability to thin provision resources is the reason LET is here in the first place, I don't know why people look for every opportunity to abuse that.

If you think something is not sustainable, don't use it, if you decide to use it, don't rely on it, but don't go out of your way to destroy it, that's just a dick move. looks at Amazons unlimited drive... case in point.

I linked the website for a reason but I guess nobody noticed it, lol.

https://www.nakhonitech.com/vps-linux-inter.html#linuxus1 tab is called 'storage' and simply states that it's SSD.

https://www.nakhonitech.com/vps-linux-inter.html#linuxus3 tab is called 'SSD' and the specs are more believable:

    2 GB RAM/40 GB SSD/$30

The price is triple for half the storage which leads me to believe that he simply modified the first tab during the "promotion" and called HDD to SSD. Either way, I gave up on this. It's impossible to convince consumers against people from their own country. They're naive as fuck.

That's a pretty passive aggressive comment you've got going on there. Sounds like you have more than just the intent of bringing up a host who is allegedly selling HDD as SSD.
